This is Domenico Sebastiani's design for a plane called the "Hot Spot."  Like the name it's a fast and easy to fly plane, featuring twin vertical stabs, and a large delta wing design, which gives it good stability and simple controls.

View Polaris Construction Guide

We are very excited to bring you the Polaris seaplane parkflyer! This model, conceived by noted designer Steve Shumate, is a parkflyer adaptation of Laddie Mikulasko's beautiful North Star seaplane. It features simple sheet foam construction and excellent handling qualities, both in the air and on the water. In flight, this model is smooth, majestic, and stable, yet also very aerobatic.

The Polaris tracks straight as an arrow and takes off and lands effortlessly on water, grass, or even snow! But one of the best things about this model is the amazing speed range—with the recommended power setup the top speed approaches 70 mph, yet the model slows down well and can plop down into the water at high alpha under full control at less than 10 mph. This allows the model to be flown in very tight spaces if desired, or if you have a bigger flying site you can open it up and enjoy the speed. It handles wind and waves remarkably well, too. Touch and goes off water or grass are effortless, and will put a great big smile on your face every time!

The low wing loading makes the Polaris very docile, and it can be flown by anyone with some parkjet or sport flying experience. The construction is straightforward and anyone with some foamy or balsa building experience will enjoy putting this together in a few evenings.

The kit includes all laser cut 6 mm Depron foam, carbon fiber spars, pushrods and control horns, motor mount, and detailed construction guide on CD.

Whether on water or grass, the Polaris will be one of the most rewarding projects you'll ever have in your hanger!

Power recommendations: We've been doing a lot of flight testing with the Polaris and have settled on two power packages that work very well. The 2212-6 motor will offer the best performance, and is great if you have a lot of larger packs in the 2100 range. But we really like the 2212-10 running on a good 1300 or 1320 pack. We recommend cooling vents since the ESC is fully enclosed.

High Power Set-up

  • Motor - Turnigy 2212-6 (2200 kv)
  • ESC - 30 amp minimum, 40 amp recommended, cooling vents recommended
  • Prop - APC 6/4 E
  • Battery - 3 cell lipo, 1300 mah (min. 25C) to 2250 mah

Mid Power Set-up

  • Motor - Turnigy 2212-10 (1400 kv)
  • ESC - 30 amp minimum, cooling vents recommended
  • Prop - APC 7/5E or 7/6 Slow Fly
  • Battery - 3 cell lipo, 1200 to 1320 recommended, up to 2100

The MX Model is made with 9mm 1.3 EPP foam, is approx. 34" wide and 36" long. It weighs approximately 71/2 ounces "ready-to-fly". This plane is great for flying in parks and small areas! This is a slow-flying plane that can be used as a 3D training plane. Custom colors are available - contact us if you want a different color combination. Available assembled, or in kit form.

This is a newer version of a Long EZ made by bluefoamflyer55. It is a 34" wingspan made from Depron, has (2) 5 gram servos (Canard/Elevator & Ailerons) so it can work with just 3 channels of the radio. Also much lighter than my first one of 13+oz. this one is 8.8 oz. flying weight with a 1400kv 75 Watt motor and 500 mah battery and can get 11-16 min. of flight time depending on power setting. I cut these on a cnc router and kits are available at Frequency RC Hobbies.
